Mercer’s Wood Academy, Gainsborough is a full primary with 192 pupils on roll. We are part of Tall Oaks Academy Trust - a Multi-Academy Trust responsible for three (one junior and two primary) schools in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.
The Board of Trustees and Executive Headteacher are looking to appoint a highly effective and dedicated professional to support the Head of School at Mercer’s Wood Academy to develop and implement outstanding teaching and learning in our school. We are looking for an outstanding teacher who is also able to lead and inspire our pupils and staff to achieve excellence.

The Assistant Head of School will be responsible for managing and leading a Key Stage. They will assist the Head of School in the day-to-day running of the school and will often be the first point of contact for parents/carers. The Assistant Head of School will be expected to take part in essential coaching work with colleagues to impact on learning outcomes for children and also to take on additional leadership responsibilities that will be dependent on the strengths and experiences of the successful candidate.
Our new Assistant Head of School will be committed to the journey of continual self and whole-school improvement and recognise the need to understand their school community in order to support the Head of School to shape and drive a vision for the future. The candidates will also be expected to fully embrace the MAT ethos of sharing expertise and support across schools.
