Our school day begins at 8.50 am (8.45 am at White's Wood Academy) and children should arrive in the playground by approximately 10 minutes before that to ensure everyone is ready and settled to start the school day.
If your child is going to be late to school, please ring the school office to make them aware so they can update the Class Teacher and registers appropriately.
If your child is going to be absent from school due to illness, please could parents contact the school office by telephone between 8.00 am and 9.30 am. This will allow us to up-date our registers and ensure we know where all children are who have not arrived at school.
We will always try to contact parents when children are absent but we have not received a message from about the reason for absence.
Your cooperation in this matter is extremely important so that we can ensure the safety of all our children by knowing where they are.
If you child has a medical appointment booked please inform the school with as much notice as possible. If you need to collect your child early or they will be into school late please advise the school office so Class Teachers are aware of a forthcoming absence.
Trust schools will stay open if at all possible during periods of severe weather, including deep snow, high winds and flooding. However, there may be times when we have to consider closing the school to ensure the safety of all children and staff. This may also include the condition of the school site in some instances.
Should weather conditions mean that the school can not open on that day, parents will be notified of the decision in the following ways:
By text message at approximately 7.00 am.
By local radio (Lincs FM (102.2 FM) or BBC Radio Lincolnshire (94.9 FM, 104.7 FM))
Through this website.
If the school is required to close at a time within the school day, parents will be notified of the decision in the following ways:
By text message
By local radio (Lincs FM (102.2 FM) or BBC Radio Lincolnshire (94.9 FM and 104.7 FM))
Through this website
By telephone if any children are not collected by the specified time.
Parents and carers have the responsibility of getting children to and from school safely, and need to decide if the journey is safe when severe weather has affected roads and pathways. Parents should inform school if their child is absent due to severe conditions making the journey unsafe. Please consider conditions carefully and only keep children at home if conditions are in your opinion unsafe.
Please also ensure that children are dressed appropriately for weather conditions and have a suitable warm coat and shoes/boots that have a good grip in icy conditions. Children may wear wellington boots to and from school, but will be required to change into school shoes or plimsolls whilst within the school building.
