Post 2: Mercer’s Wood Academy, Ropery Road, Gainsborough

Are you an experienced Deputy/Assistant Head of School who is looking for an exciting new challenge? Tall Oaks Academy Trust needs two Heads of School with vision and a passion for primary education.

Full-time positions required to start in January 2018 (alternative start dates are available for the right candidates)

Leadership Pay Spine L6 to L10

Tall Oaks Academy Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust responsible for three (one junior and two primary) schools in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire. The schools are united by their commitment to the principles and values of the Trust and a common belief that collaboration and co-operation benefits pupils, parents, staff and the wider community.

The Board of Trustees and Executive Headteacher are looking to appoint two highly effective and dedicated professionals to lead Castle Wood Academy and Mercer’s Wood Academy. First and foremost, we are looking for outstanding practitioners who are able to lead and inspire our pupils and staff to achieve excellence. These posts represent an exceptional opportunity for professional and personal development within a very strong and supportive professional network. We pride ourselves on supporting staff to be highly successful, recognising that success comes in a wide variety of ways, growing a culture of continual improvement where we look to provide the best possible opportunities for staff and pupils. The successful candidates will be resilient and knowledgeable primary practitioners with an outstanding record of teaching.

A Culture of Support

We believe that our Head of School should be able to focus on building a really strong and safe culture of learning amongst all pupils and a rigorous culture of continued professional learning and enquiry for all staff. To facilitate this work, the appointed Heads of School will be supported by the Executive Leadership Team and each school’s corresponding Assistant Heads of School.

The Head of School will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the school and will be the first point of contact for parents/carers. The Head of School will be expected to take part in essential coaching work with colleagues to impact on learning outcomes for children.

Both schools have a proven track record in providing outstanding teaching and learning but still have a journey to travel to secure a long lasting and sustainable future. The successful candidates will therefore be committed to the journey of continual improvement and recognise the need to understand the individual schools and their communities in order to shape and drive a vision for the future. The candidates will also be expected to fully embrace the MAT ethos of sharing expertise and support across schools.
