School Council

At Mercer’s Wood, the children take pride in being part of the School Council (2 pupils from each class in Year 2 up to Year 6) and making sure their voices are heard amongst the big decisions.

Meetings take place every few weeks to discuss how to improve the school or plan the next charity event.

We have already successfully voted on fundraising ideas for Children In Need and decided that the school is in need of a litter team to ensure a safe, tidy area for all children to play and learn in.

Our next meeting will be about Save the Children Christmas jumper day- thinking about how to raise as much money as possible for a worthy cause.

Meet our school councillors

Having a school council is really important because most of the pupils at this school want to make a difference within school. Having the school council means that we have a say about what happens at school.

I am glad that I am a school councillor. I would like to make the school playground more enjoyable at break at lunch times by bringing in more equipment for us to play with.

- John
