At Tall Oaks Academy Trust we are lucky to have Mrs Willis, our Inclusion Leader/SENDCo who develops, supports and works with parents to assist children with SEND.
Nationally it is expected that approximately 20% of children experience learning challenges at some point of their education, as smaller percentage may be judged as gifted and talented. Every pupil has access to the full curriculum regardless of their needs. Some children may require more specialised teaching which can be better provided within a small group or one a one-to-one basis away from the classroom; however our aim is to be as inclusive as possible.
Class teachers and Mrs Willis work together to plan the relevant support from differentiated learning, the use of additional support, small groups or individual teaching, Nurture session as well as using any additional outside agencies.
Working with Mrs Willis at Mercer's Wood Academy to support the children is Mrs Jones, our Safeguarding and Welfare Officer. If you wish to make an appointment with either Mrs Willis or Mrs Jones please contact the school office.
To find out how we support children with SEND please look at our SEN Information Report and our SEND Policy.
For more information please visit the "SEND" tab on our Trust web-page.
If you have a complaint regarding SEND provision for your child - firstly please speak with your child's class teacher regarding your concern.
